Krishna is the director of this material world, He is directly and indirectly cognizant of this material creation.
Eg: Software problem in our computer, Bill Gates does not need to know this, his representatives will take care. Similarly, Krishna has all His various energies taking care of everything.
Without His intervention, matter cannot be brought into life. There is energy in each and every atom, every particle. Somebody showed a cell phone getting charged by attaching the charger to a fruit, or a leaf. This is Krishna according to us, but they think it is just some matter. That is their foolishness.
We are spirit souls. Everything has energy in it. If we can understand that and see the hand of Krishna everywhere, then we can become very very humble. But it is difficult to come out of our conditional presence to understand this. Thats why our sadhana is very very important to know that Sri Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead! Please chant very very nicely.

Srimad Bhagavatam is non-different from the Supreme Lord Krishna
July 30: Canto 1 Chapter 1 Verse 1 (1.1.1)
Srimad Bhagavatam is actually the form of Krishna, all 12 canto's. It is the description of Krishna, but it is actually Krishna himself. That's why when we install Srimad Bhagavatam at home, we worship it as a deity.
Srila Vyasadev has established here that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Here Srila Vyasadev is making a point that here that Srimad Bhagavatam is the narration of the svarupa of the Lord manifested by His internal potency, and this potency is distinguished from the external potency which has manifested the cosmic world, which is within our experience.
Unless you come to the mode of Goodness, you cannot worship Vishnu and unless you come to the mode of pure goodness, you cannot worship Krishna. As long as we are in the 3 modes of material nature, it is not possible to worship Krishna. We need to transcend these 3 modes to worship Krishna.
When we chant Gayatri mantra, it puts us to the mode of goodness, allowing us to worship Vishnu. But Hare Krishna Mahamantra helps us transcend the 3 modes and brings us to the platform of pure unalloyed devotion, thus allowing us to worship Krishna. Thats why we have to chant our rounds very nicely.

Establishing the intelligence of the SPG
July 29: Srila Prabhupada is trying to establish the supremacy of Krishna as is given by Srila Vyasadev. He is explaining how Srila Vyasadev compiled all Vedic literatures and still not being satisfied, under the instructions of his spiritual master, he wrote Srimad Bhagavatam. Naradamuni instructed him to write this literature which would explain the activities of the Lord.
He starts off Srimad Bhagavatam with Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya - Starts off with saying that Sri Krishna is the supreme personality of Godhead and he pays his obeisances unto Him.
Further in today's reading, Srila Prabhupada is explaining about how satellites have been put orbit with man's intelligence, then how intelligent will be the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krishna who is running all this cosmic manifestation.

Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead

How fortunate are we to start Srimad Bhagavatam.
Vyasadev is starting with Om Namo... Janmady asya yatah...
By whom this cosmic world is created, who gave the knowledge to Brahma, by whom the illusion is created (like water seen in fire etc), somehow it is the material modes working. That personality who did all this is the last step in the Absolute Truth. Who is that... KRISHNA.
Janmady asya yatah.. one of the Vedanta sutras. Vedanta sutras is a commentary on Srimad Bhagavatam. Vyasadev has clearly indicated here that God is a person and the closest name to describe Him is Krishna.
Today, in most houses in India, so many photos of all the demigods, even in the house of devotees. Why, no faith in Krishna or fear with what will happen if we don't worship the demigods. So they just let everyone be there.
Vyasadev answered this question. No no no, you are part and parcel of Krishna, He is the last step in the Absolute Truth.
Outsiders, they do not have faith, thats reasonable. But at least we who chanting 16 rounds, should have complete immense faith in Krishna. If we have immense faith, real faith, then SP said, we can conquer the world in 18 days (Mahabharat war).
Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakur spoke on this shloka for 3 months. Very important shloka. Prabhuji wants everyone to memorize this shloka and translation also.

Verse 7: Feelings of love in separation, to Krishna
July 25: Caitanya Mahaprabhu is going through feelings of separation. The whole world is becoming void, when someone close passes away. Here the same thing you apply to Krishna. By that way if you are feeling with Krishna... means you can't tolerate the feelings of separation from Krishna. Imaging the height of separation Caitanya Mahaprabhu is feeling from Krishna.
Example: Lover and loved. Still it is a material example. When one goes away, the separation is there but it lasts only for a few days in the material world.
But separation from Krishna, in the spiritual world it is the height of joy in separation.
Everyone is suggesting to Sachimata that Caitanya Mahaprabhu has gone mad. But Advaita Acharya tells that His madness is divine madness, and is praying as to when will I achieve this madness.
This is Gopi's love. It is our parampara, if we chant nicely, we automatically please Guru and Krishna and we attain devotion and love to Krishna. But we do not artificially try to manifest the symptoms exhibited by Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Verse 6: Ecstatic symptoms of Bhava
July 24: Verse 6 - As we start chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra, serving devotees, serving Guru and Krishna, then after anartha nivrutti, we come to nishta, then we enter the stage of bhava. These are all the symptoms of ecstasy. This verse tells about this bhava stage.
We should not artificially show this, but CM is explaining as to when will the day come when I am completely Krishna Conscious and feel separation from you.
Pastime: Mahaprabhu directly going into Ganga, shouting Krishna Krishna. CM says: I don't have any love for Krishna. It is a fact that I am living means I don't have any love for Krishna.
This was Mahaprabhu's ecstasies. Devotees then did not know what to do. That is a stage of bhava. But we are all very very conditioned. We should not imitate.
Srila Rupa Goswami is saying, when we do bhajana kriya, we should not do mechanically. The days are running by. We should do it sincerely from our side we should chant properly, do your sadhana and follow spiritual master's instruction, it is Krishna who will take care of everything, He will reveal everything then. That too very soon, as soon as we deserve.
That's why our chanting should be with feeling!

Verse 5: Urgency, Intense Greed for Devotional Service
July 23: Explanation of Verse 5

This cycle of birth and death is so difficult for anyone to cross. But if we take shelter of Krishna, then it is possible. But what do we need for that. We need to log on to the mercy, by holding on to the feet to Guru and Krishna. We need to be connected to the flowing mercy.
Here one quality to be noticed:
Krpaya tava pada pankaja...
What is the quality that is required to attain this mercy... that is Loulyam, intense greed (Bhagavatam explains).
Somehow I have fallen into this cycle of birth and death, the truth is that I am into this material existence, somehow please pick me up from this ocean of birth and death.
To attain this state, accept the favorable things for Devotional Service and reject those that are unfavorable. Our chanting should be intense for this. The urgency should be shown in our chanting. If we are making progress, that depends on the urgency.
Please chant in the helpless mood.
But we need to understand that this world is designed to frustrate everyone. So whatever state we are in, our chanting should be done with this urgency.

Verse 4: 3 Impediments for the Sadhaka
July 22: After giving the solution in verse 3, Mahaprabhu is describing further.
1st verse: thesis (all the 6 qualities that will take place when we chant are given)
2nd verse: anti-thesis (problem describing ineffective chanting of conditioned souls)
3rd verse: solution ( being humbler than a blade of grass, more tolerant than a tree, give respect to all, expect no respect)
If we chant with enthusiasm, some taste comes, then purification happens. Then what...
4th verse: What are the other problems that might occur... money, opposite sex, adoration or prestige
Even if we chant being humble, these 3 impediments can cause trouble. We are chanting Hare Krishna Mahamantra, somebody might give us money, some might like to follow us, some may be attracted... but if we do not reject it, then it is very tough.
Of all the three, prestige is very dangerous.
We should never compare ourselves with anybody, should be grateful to Krishna for whatever He gave us. We should aim only for Krishna Prema, Love of God.
These are the 3 impediments for the sadhaka. Especially false prestige is hard to beat and we become miserable. That is the conditioned mind. If we want to make progress, we have to fight with this conditioned mind. Thats why we should chant sincerely and pray to Krishna to protect us from the onslaught of Maya.
Srila Prabhupada: If you don't chant attentively, then we will become victims to Maya.

Verse 3 of Siksastakam, Solution
July 21: 3rd Verse
Actually 1st sloka has all the wonderful benefits that chanting offers. Krishna is non-different from His holy name, still Caitanya Mahaprabhu is expressing that I don't have a taste for the holy name. Here Caitanya Mahaprabhu is taking the place of a conditioned soul.
So how to develop this taste?
Solution: Humbler than a blade of Grass, more tolerant than a tree, not expecting respect and giving all respect to others.
Every conditioned soul in this world, is a controller. In order to get rid of this mentality, and get a mood of servant of servant of servant of Krishna, that is only through chanting.
Chanting means begging for service. Because only through service our heart changes. In a very humble way, we should chant.
Srila Prabhupada, Srila Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakur (SBSST) and sannyasi's in our movement applied in their life this principle.
SBSST said that our siddhapranali mantra is: Trnad api...sadha hari!
If we string this to the garland of holy name, then we will attain the perfection of our life.

July 19: Namnamakari...shakti: Krishna has invested all his energies in the Holy Name. There are no hard and fast rules for chanting the Holy Name. (Eg: Pastime of Lord Ramachandra writing his name on a stone and dropping in the ocean. It drowns, but the stones dropped by Sugriva's army with Lord Ram's name floats)

Explanation of the First Verse of Sri Siksastakam
July 17: Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave these 8 verses for the self-realization. These are actually 8 steps to attain the position of servant of servant of servant of Krishna.
The last shloka shows the height of surrender.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu gave the chanting of the holy names as the means and the process to attain to Bhakti.
Explaining the first verse today:
Ceto darpana marjanam - Since the heart is so dirty, we cannot see who we are. When we chant, the mirror like heart is purified of all the dirt. Thats why we should chant every day.
This material world is designed in such a way that it frustrates everyone. (davagni nirvapaman... Srila Prabhupada says forest fire of material existence, surrounds everything and burns everything). When we chant we will be saved from this forest fire.
Same words are used in Samsara-dava prayers too. Forest fire of material existence, the holy name offers the soothing rays of benediction. Auspiciousness. Srila Rupa Goswami says that this is the highest welfare activity.
This chanting gives you the transcendental knowledge, realization that we are not this body, we are spirit soul. We understand what is are position in this material world and also in the spiritual world.
It gives us unlimited bliss. Chanting brings anybody to the happy platform. It increases the ocean of bliss. We can relish the nectar. It bathes the spirit soul in happiness. Thats why all glory to Sri Krishna Sankirtana movement.
His Divine Grace Bhaktisiddanta Saraswati Thakur made this last sentence as the victory flag, Sri Krishna Sankirtanam.
Then Srila Prabhupada, single handedly established this society based on this verse.
If we don't have anything to die for, then we have nothing to live for. What better opportunity other than this to work for Krishna. Krishna will definitely reciprocate with you 100 times.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu's Siksastakam, Mahamantra Potency

Caitanya Mahaprabhu is one of the strong advocates of SB, because the nature of living entity is to serve Krishna.
We have same quality as Krishna, but we are very very small in quantity. To this Supreme soul, we should serve with everything.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu's 8 verses:
First: How do we attain that self-realization, that we are not the body and are spirit souls. Caitanya Mahaprabhu did not start the sankirtan movement whimsically...
Going back to Godhead after attaining self-realization is possible, by chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra.
Kaliyuga process: Sankirtan
Sages gave up fire sacrifices, started chanting the Holy Name. And what is the mantra of the Kaliyuga:
Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare
In Kalisantarana Upanishad: This mantra is given as
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

So why do we chant the other way: This is so because:

Caitanya Mahaprabhu met Srila Rupa Goswami
July 15: Caitanya Mahaprabhu explained to Srila Rupa Goswami on the science of bhakti. Bhakti is very very rare and Krishna is attained through only bhakti. If anyone has any desire for material results, then he will not attain bhakti.
To find a pure devotee is very very rare (1 in 1 crore). But it is our good fortune, that by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and acharya's, we are on the path of devotion. So we should be striving on the path of material life. We should treasure Krishna Bhakti as a jewel. For this our sadhana should be impeccable, if not maya can take over us at any time.
To find a pure devotee is very very rare (1 in 1 crore). But it is our good fortune, that by the mercy of Srila Prabhupada and acharya's, we are on the path of devotion. So we should be striving on the path of material life. We should treasure Krishna Bhakti as a jewel. For this our sadhana should be impeccable, if not maya can take over us at any time.

Vallabhacharya, was the one who got the darshan of Krishna, when Yamuna devi came to bathe Krishna.
Moral today: Scholarly ability is not enough. Although Vallabhacharya was a scholar, he observed that the associates of CM were very high in devotional service.

Srila Sanatana Goswami, in Varanasi
July 13: Caitanya Mahaprabhu is instructing Prakashananda Saraswati. In the debate, Caitanya Mahaprabhu established that the personal feature is superior to the impersonal feature.
Later on, in Varanasi, Srila Sanatana Goswami also Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Caitanya Mahaprabhu instructed him about the different incarnations of the Lord and various other things. Based on these teachings Srila Sanatana Goswami has written many many books, which we now have available to us.

Very Important Event in Caitanya Caritamrta
July 12: Prakashananda Saraswati had 60000 disciples and was from the Sankharacharya philosophy => You are God, I am God... which was a serious harm to Bhakti.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu had come to remove the bad qualities of conditioned souls. By softly speaking to Prakashananda Saraswati, He changed his heart. Mahaprabhu took a humble and menial position during his meeting with Prakashananda Saraswati, which was noticed by him. Prakashananda Saraswati did a service to Caitanya Mahaprabhu by extending his hand and calling him inside. That made him eligible for Mahaprabhu's mercy.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu humbly answered his questions. In Kaliyuga, everyone has to chant. Caitanya Mahaprabhu systematically presented the dissection of Sankara's philosophy and established the supremacy of Bhakti. This He converted Prakashananda Saraswati and all his 60000 disciples to Bhakti.

Even Tigers and Deers dance together in Bhakti!
July 11: Kaliyuga means quarrel and hypocrisy. Caitanya Mahaprabhu, on his way to Vrindavan, because of his His saintly presence, even the tigers and deers joined together in chanting. That is sankirtan is the yuga dharma, if we want to come out of quarrel and hypocrisy, then Sankirtan is the only means.
Second episode: Mayavadi's and Bhagavata's. Sripada Prakashananda Saraswati deprecated the activities of Caitanya Mahaprabhu, but Mahaprabhu wanted to shower his mercy on him. So He agreed for a meeting with Prakashananda Saraswati.

Mahaprabhu very strict with renounced order of life
July 10: Caitanya Mahaprabhu though very magnanious and merciful, he was very strict with renounced the order of life.
Mahaprabhu banished Chota Haridas for just one lustful thought of his. Mahaprabhu though merciful to Jagai and Madhai, he was so strict with Chota Haridas. Mahaprabhu is conveying a message.
Whatever order of life we are in, we should be very strict when it comes to sense gratification. Even in grhasthas, it is very regulated. The strength will come from Chanting. Another thing, Bhagavatam is the only way to purify our material existence. There is no other way, there is no other way, there is no other way.

Ramananda Raya, Krishna-Karnamrta, Saint Tukaram
July 9: Ramananda Raya is Visakha sakhi in the spiritual world. Lalita sakhi is Swaroop Damodar Goswami. Caitanya Mahaprabhu hence relished the association of these two exalted devotees, during his stay in Puri.
Caitanya Mahaprabhu also excavated Brahma Samhita (by Lord Brahma) and Krishna Karnamrta (written by Bilvamangala Das Thakur)
In the dream of Saint Tukaram, Lord Caitanya came and initiated him. In his abanga's he writes about this. He was the one who went back to Godhead with his same body.
Anybody who saw Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu got Krishna Prema. Caitanya Mahaprabhu advocated Nama ruchi, Jiva dhaya and Vaishnava Seva.
All the 4 sampradayas, their teachings were emalgamated into the Gaudiya Madhva Sampradaya by Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Intro: Discussion between Ramananda Raya and Caitanya Mahaprabhu
July 8: It is of very high paramount importance. some initial suggestions of Ramananda Raya were rejected by Caitanya Mahaprabhu.
Varanaashrama system, takes a long time to attain perfection.
Renunciation, Mahaprabhu rejected this also. Since it is difficult.
Finally, Ramananda Raya suggested taking up to the process of Bhakti, by chanting and hearing. CM completely welcomed it.
No matter what aashrama you are, this process will deliver anybody. Chant the Holy Name and hear about Krishna, then we will be able to actively purify ourselves. Proposed by Ramananda Raya and approved by Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Also approved by Srila Prabhupada.
We should also without fail everyday chant, taking the mission of Guru to heart. If not, we are missing something. How actively are we working today for Guru and Krishna is something that we need to decide?

3 Energies of the Lord
July 3: The supreme lord has multi-farious energies. Three are very prominent.
Internal Energy (Antharanga shakti) (Srimati Radharani)
Bahiranga shakti (Mother Durga)
Tathastha shakti (All living entities: jivas)
We (jivas) belong to superior energy, but come in control of material energy, then it is an incompatible problem. That is why we are always under miseries here in the material world.
The sooner we understand this, the sooner we try to come out of the clutches of material energy, by becoming servants of the servants of Krishna. The only simplest way of doing this is to chant sincerely.

Visnu tattvas, Krishna the Supreme
July 2: Prabhupada says, God is a person i.e. Krishna. Otherwise we have strong belief that God is impersonal.
In this initial stages a neopyte devotee focuses on nirakar, but as he goes ahead, he realizes the personal form, Krishna. Vishnu tattvas.
We, the living entities are jiva tatva
One more : Shakti tattva
External energy: Material nature
Internal energy: Srimati Radharani
Shambu tattva: Shiva
Krishna, Vishnu: no contact with Maya. Especially Krishna has 64 qualities. He has a spiritual body, not a material body.
Brahman is a negation of His materiality, but not a denial of His transcendental personality.
Unless we cleanse our heart carefully, we cannot come out of the birth of cycle and death. And Chanting is our only means for this.
