Verse 1.13.30 (Yugal Kishore Prji):
* SB deals with paramahamsa's and how they transcended the cycle of birth and death and went back to Godhead.
* Last verses, we saw how Vidhura chastised Maharaj Dhrtharashtra about this attachments.
* Eg: Unintelligent bird gets attached to its cage, then how true it is with human beings.
* Because of attachment for the body (8.4 million number of bodies), the atma does not want to fly back, but is attached to its body.
* We have New Year, calling it auspicious new year, but doing all inauspicious things like drinking, gambling etc.
* Coming back to Gandhari: by nature we have the propensity to enjoy. but whoeever wakes up is good. For Dhrtarashtra it is Vidhura and for us, it is this bhagavatam class.
* After 50, generally the husband turns to vanaprastha, leaving the wife under the care of noble sons.
* Women should always be under the protection and care of father or husband or son. Here Gandhari need not have gone with her husband, but she decided to go with her husband into the forest.
* Another counter example: Devahuti, she did not follow her husband, but stayed back in the palace. Kapilamuni asked her to stay back. She was so chaste and followed her husband's words, that the Lord was born to her. She finally became a river, tributary to Ganga.
* Life is meant to cleanse our heart. Years are going by, but do we have relief from grief, envy, lust. This is what we have to ponder on.
* If we keep Krishna in the center very nicely, then it is possible.
* The Vaisnava sannyāsīs are narottamas, whereas the Māyāvādī sannyāsīs are dhīras. Mahārāja Dhrtarāstra was advised to follow the dhīras because at that stage it was difficult for him to become a narottama.
* Tri-dandi means body, mind and words.
* Our resolution should be: always remember Krishna, never forget Krishna!
